Five games that will define Tottenham’s 26/27 season, and our score predictions

Wait 5 sec.

The international break is finally over, and it is back to Premier League action for Tottenham this weekend. After five games, the club remains winless and sits at the bottom of the league. With another five games before the next international break, the next month could make or break Tottenham’s 2026/27 campaign. Tottenham Hotspur face trips north to Man United and Leeds, as well as the short journey across London to bitter rivals Chelsea. Sandwiched between those three games are home matches against newly promoted Coventry and struggling Crystal Palace. Historically, Tottenham have one of the worst records in live Saturday games, with only Everton faring worse. Unfortunately for Tottenham, four of the next five fixtures will also take place live on a Saturday. The club’s biggest victory came during the COVID era when Harry Kane and Son Heung-min inspired Tottenham to a 6-1 demolition. The most recent visit ended in a 2-0 defeat after Cristian Romero received a red card midway through the first half. Both teams have started the season poorly, so this could come down to which team wants the victory more and which side can produce the most quality in the opposition penalty area.My Prediction: D 2-2Spurs vs Coventry City (Home)Coventry visit North London for a Monday night clash under the lights. It has been fifteen years since Tottenham last played Coventry, with Spurs running out 3-0 winners back in 2001 thanks to goals from Sergei Rebrov, Les Ferdinand and Iversen.Interestingly, Tottenham have only won two of the nine meetings between the sides in North London.Newly promoted Coventry have struggled during their opening five games. Arsenal and Brighton dismantled them comfortably, while Manchester City and Hull also took all three points. A victory over Nottingham Forest in their last match will give Coventry renewed confidence, but anything less than three points for Tottenham would represent another major disappointment. My Prediction: W 3-2Chelsea vs Tottenham (Away)Stamford Bridge remains one of the grounds Spurs fans hate visiting. It has become one of the unhappiest venues for the club during the Premier League era.Tottenham have failed to win on their last five visits to West London and have managed just two victories in their last fifteen Premier League meetings with Chelsea. Many people believed Chelsea could emerge as outside title challengers after winning their opening two games. However, two defeats and a home draw against Hull have quickly stopped any title talk. For Tottenham, if they travel to Chelsea without a victory on the board, this could become a defining fixture for Roberto De Zerbi. A poor result could increase the pressure surrounding his position and potentially bring the end of his Tottenham tenure into question. My Prediction: D 1-1Credit: @reclusemedia / InstagramSpurs vs Crystal Palace (Home)Tottenham’s first game after the clocks go backwards will see them welcome Crystal Palace to North London.Palace are currently enjoying their best ever run of form against Tottenham, having won three of the last four meetings, including the last two at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This will represent another fixture where Tottenham will expect to take all three points. Palace have managed a solitary victory against Fulham so far this season, while a draw against Leeds last time out took their total to four points. Many people already see Palace as a club in danger of relegation.Tottenham simply have to win this game.My Prediction: W 1-0Leeds vs Tottenham (Away)Tottenham travel to West Yorkshire to face a Leeds United side that look as good as they have since the glory years of the early noughties.Tottenham have enjoyed an excellent record against Leeds in recent years, suffering just one defeat in the last eight Premier League meetings. The last three visits to Elland Road have all ended in Tottenham victories, including last season’s 2-1 win under Thomas Frank.Leeds have started the season brilliantly and currently sit fifth in the Premier League. It is impossible to know exactly where they will sit when the Lilywhites make the trip, but based on their current form, you would be brave to bet against them remaining in and around the European places. My Prediction: W 2-1What is an acceptable points haul for Spurs? If Tottenham want to progress and have any chance of reaching their pre-season targets, they need to collect at least ten points from these five games.Ten points would provide a much-needed confidence boost and give Spurs a platform to build from heading into the busy Christmas period.Anything below seven points would leave the club facing another season near the bottom of the league and potentially fighting for Premier League survival. The most likely outcome, in my opinion, is seven to nine points. That would see Tottenham climb into the middle of the table and give the club something to build on.A huge Christmas period would still remain essential if Tottenham want to achieve their targets, but reaching those targets would still be possible. The next five games could tell us everything we need to know about Tottenham’s season.READ MORE – How to watch Man United vs Tottenham as De Zerbi and Carrick enter ‘El Sackico’ battleThe post Five games that will define Tottenham’s 26/27 season, and our score predictions appeared first on Spurs Web.
