Nobody is obligated to get any of the stuff on the list or give large amounts, it just outlines what and how much of each thing including cash. Sensible if you ask me, makes finding a gift to bring easier both mentally and logistically. I had over 900 guests at my wedding, and the rule was cash only for logistical reasons and only what you can spare. Any out of town friends I told them not to buy a gift since it costs a bunch to come see me in the first place. Having a register isnt begging its logistical forethought if you ask me
