I made a on-device voice assistant for the Mac

Wait 5 sec.

I’ve been building Javvy, a voice assistant for macOS. Say “Hey Javvy” (or hold a key) and talk. What it does: Opens and quits apps, finds and opens files Volume, brightness, music, Do Not Disturb Minimise, full screen or hide any window by voice Reminders and calendar (“what’s on my calendar tomorrow?”), screenshots “Add this to my reminders” saves the page you’re reading Remembers things you tell it (“my work browser is Edge”, then “open my work browser”) Answers the weather and quick facts out loud Privacy: speech recognition and understanding run on your Mac with small on-device models. App, file, system and calendar commands work with Wi-Fi off. Only questions that need the internet (weather, a fact) send the words of that question, never your voice. No account. It’s fast: a command takes about 0.2 s after you stop talking. It also understands Hinglish, if anyone here mixes Hindi and English. Apple silicon, macOS 14+. Not out yet. If you’d like to try it early, let me know in the comments. I’d love feedback: what would you actually use a voice assistant on your Mac for? What does Siri get wrong for you? submitted by /u/MrScanner_ [link] [comments]
