Quest 3S 128 GB: was $349.99 now $297.49The Meta Quest 3S may be two years old, but it's still the best entry-level route into VR gaming. That's especially true thanks to this Prime Day deal that pushes its price back under the original 2024 MSRP.Key specs: 1,832 × 1,920 per eye | Fresnel lenses | 96 degree field of view | Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 SoCView DealBack in November 2024 when Jacob originally reviewed the Meta Quest 3S, he concluded "this half-step hybrid is the best way into VR on a budget." Nearly three years later, that remains true, especially thanks to this Prime Day deal that pushes its price back under $300.Newegg is currently offering the 128 GB config of the Quest 3S for a little under $298. That's a whisker below the 128 GB model's original $299 MSRP and well below its current AI-apocalypse-adjusted $349 MSRP. The Quest 3S was, of course, launched as a cut-down version of the Quest 3. Fresnel lenses subbed in for the Quest 3's optically superior pancake lenses, for instance. The per-eye resolution dropped from 2,064 x 2,208 to 1,832 x 1,920, and the horizontal field of view narrowed from 110 degrees to 96 degrees, as a result. We're curating all the best Prime Day PC gaming deals hereBeyond the headline specs, Jacob found the 3S fell a little short in other areas, too. He wrote, "In comparing the Quest 3 to the Quest 3S, it's in an entirely different class for VR headsets. Even in the finer details, such as the built in glasses adjustment, IPD scroller, or auto-wake functionality that the Quest 3S lacks, [the Quest 3 is] a step above."That said, you get the same Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 SoC as the Quest 3, albeit that chip is now outgunned by the latest silicon in the likes of the Valve Steam Frame and its fancy new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.But then the Steam Frame starts at over $1,000. Like Jacob said, the Quest 3S's appeal is its entry-level positioning, not its outright technical prowess. The point is, even with a slightly older Qualcomm chip, the Quest 3S can play games without the need for an actual PC, which is handy in this age of PC purchases being put off thanks to silly chip prices. But you still have the option of using Quest Link or Air Link to connect to your PC via a cable or Wi-Fi, when you're ready. And when you are, there's no better device to start your VR journey and no headset that's simpler to setup thanks to solid inside-out tracking.All-in-all, then, Meta may not be everyone's favourite company. But the Quest 3S at this Prime Day price is offering some serious value to beleaguered PC Gamers battered by brutal memory and GPU prices.👉Shop all of Amazon's VR headset deals here👈
