how to get rid of new-gained anxiety? specifically with documentation

Wait 5 sec.

hello! just to preface, i started my first job as an RN end of april 2025 in the ICU, however that didn’t work out so i switched to an elective orthopedics/trauma unit in between orientation. i’ve been there ever since but ever since i got the “harder” patients and family members where they threaten of suing, i’ve gained this whole new anxiety about my documentation. i get things done on time and i finish my documentation on time but after i give report to night shift, i stay on the computer and i keep rechecking my documentation, and i do this too many times to count, it’s terrible and unhealthy. and there are a bunch of times when i recheck, i don’t even change anything but i still just recheck just to make sure i did get it right. this causes me to go home later than i should, so most of times i go home at later than 8 PM just because i keep rechecking and overthinking if i documented things right, if i did things right. and then more recently i’ve expanded my anxiety to giving meds, where when i have to give insulin shots based on the sliding scale, i ask another nurse to recheck if i drew the right amount of units. it’s terrible, i wasn’t like this before, but now i am and i want this anxiety to go away. submitted by /u/_nicorobinn [link] [comments]
