Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson’s much-anticipated clash isn’t over the line just yet – but talks are progressing in the right direction.It was reported last week that discussions between both camps had reached the advanced stages, and now Haney’s father, Bill, has revealed the targeted date and location for the fight.Stevenson has now given the green light for the mega-fight with Haney to get over the lineMatchroom Boxing“There has been a challenge to their team to take the fight at 145 and take it on the 28th of November in Atlanta,” Haney Sr told Tru Media Podcast’s YouTube channel.“The offer is on the table for him to fight in November.”A major sticking point in negotiations has been the proposed weight.Haney had initially requested that the bout take place at 147lbs with no rehydration clause for his WBO welterweight belt.Stevenson, the WBO super lightweight champion and naturally smaller man, asked for a 144lbs catchweight limit to level the playing field.They have since agreed to meet in the middle at 145lbs.How did we get here?Stevenson and Haney had been going back and forth on social media earlier this year.However, those talks quickly tailed off after Haney was ordered to make a mandatory defence of his burgundy and gold strap against Keyshawn Davis.The fight went to a purse bid, with Top Rank submitting a winning offer of $8,550,000.Davis subsequently withdrew, citing the 25 per cent split ($2,137,500) as the reason.Haney faces Jose Ramirez in a welterweight bout on the stacked cardGettyStevenson ran into his own problems with landing a fight after joining Zuffa Boxing in July.Gary Antuanne Russell rejected an offer to fight Stevenson last month, understood to be around $1.5m.A surprise fight with boxing’s lone eight-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao had also been eyed as a double header for the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua event on December 11 in Cardiff.In the end, the plug was pulled on the fight due to financial restrictions.
