Ohio man buys second-hand Dodge Hellcat. 20 minutes later, he is allegedly swarmed by police: ‘someone in the car has a warrant for homicide’

Wait 5 sec.

Buying a new car is usually an exciting experience for a car enthusiast, but for one Ohio man, things got too exciting. In a shocking Instagram post by Sammy (sammy.amg), with 3.9 million views, the police pulled the vehicle over just 20 minutes after the driver picked up his new Dodge Hellcat. Sammy, who recorded the video, was the passenger during this encounter and documented the high-stakes moment as it unfolded. In his post, Sammy noted that the situation began when the pair noticed a heavy police presence surrounding their vehicle “20 minutes after buying a hellcat.” Both men appeared visibly nervous, but waited in their car and tried to piece together why they were being swarmed. Sammy asked, “What the f- what’s actually happening?” His companion, identified as habibis.cat, was equally confused, stating, “I have no idea.” Shortly after, we heard the officers shout commands to Habibi and Sammy from behind the vehicle. Both content creators followed the instructions, communicating when they were doing something, like getting their seatbelts. They were also careful to communicate that they had firearms. As they did, the officer acknowledged them and kept things moving. As he followed instructions, Habibi said, “I just purchased the vehicle. I have the title and everything. It just got notarized.” Sammy got more information when he was being handcuffed. The initial orders were relatively aggressive. However, as the detainment went smoothly, the officers calmed down. As Sammy was being put in handcuffs, he asked, “Am I being, like, arrested or, like…” He clarified, “No, you’re being detained.” Sammy politely responded, “Can I ask why?” That is when the officer dropped a bombshell, saying in the footage, “Because someone in the car has a warrant for homicide.”  View this post on Instagram Once he is seated in the back of a police vehicle, the moment seems to hit Sammy. He looked at the camera and noted, “Oh my god, bro. This is not right. I’m in handcuffs. This is crazy. Homicide, kid. This is not right, bro. I’m recording everything, bro.” In a different case, a traffic stop to serve a warrant resulted in the discovery of a large mail theft and identity fraud scheme.   The clip then cut ahead to Sammy walking towards another police vehicle as Habibi stepped out. We hear an officer saying, “Sorry for the confusion, guys.” Habibi responded, “Yeah, we just bought it literally right now. I’m good.” It should be noted that despite the video, all we have is Sammy’s footage, so it shouldn’t be treated as verifiable fact.  This encounter is actually a great example of what to do when the police pull you over. According to the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, law enforcement officers conduct traffic stops when they have reasonable suspicion of a traffic or criminal violation. The association emphasizes that while being stopped is a stressful experience, staying calm and cooperating is vital for everyone’s safety.  AAMVA advises drivers to pull over safely, turn off the engine, keep hands visible, and follow all instructions provided by the officers. If a driver has a weapon, they should also inform the officer upon first contact. In a different case, a TikToker’s attempt to keep the police informed during a traffic stop led to the officer pranking the driver. In the comments, many praised the men for their compliance, with one user noting, “Complied. Stayed alive. Slept in their own bed that night. It’s that easy.” Another added, “Props on actually complying and just getting through the misunderstanding, there’s a lot of people on this planet that would’ve got them selves shot in this situation.” A third wrote, “Cops did nothing wrong here. They’re just actually doing their job stopping someone whose car pops back to a homicide.” Others speculated on the cause of the mix-up. One user suggested, “Bet you 100$ a flock camera scanned it before the database updated.” Another alleged, “Should have never left that plate on there.” A third wrote, “Bro definitally had to sell it and skipped town” Then there was the contingent who didn’t trust the police. Once of which wrote, “Homicide? Was that true or some bs cops said to be nosey.” One user took a humorous approach. They wrote, “Glad you got the full hellcat experience on day 1. this how you know it’s going to be great car.”
