I’m a solo dev and I’ve been building TapNoise, a native macOS app that makes your Mac feel a little less… silent. The main character is Tappy, a tiny keycap that lives on your desktop. He reacts while you type, gets overwhelmed when you type too fast, reacts to your charger and even gets dizzy if you slap your MacBook 😭 I probably took this way further than necessary: • 20 keyboard sounds — thock, creamy, typewriter, piano, rain, paws, etc. • Tappy levels up and unlocks hats • Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can notify Tappy when an agent finishes or needs you • harder key presses can make louder sounds on supported MacBooks • Clean Mode for wiping your keyboard • Guard Mode can sound an alarm if someone moves your MacBook I originally launched it as paid-only, but asking someone to pay before they can actually feel whether the sounds are satisfying was probably a bad idea. So today I added a completely free 3-day trial. No card, no license key, everything unlocked. I also launched it on Product Hunt today, which is slightly terrifying :) TapNoise: https://tapnoise.com Product Hunt: https://www.producthunt.com/products/tapnoise Would genuinely love feedback, especially on one thing: does Tappy feel like something you’d actually keep on your desktop, or does the novelty wear off after 5 minutes? submitted by /u/Maleficent-Bug7344 [link] [comments]
