Five Men Arrested In Malta Over Suspected Drug Trafficking In Two Separate Investigations

Five men have been arrested in connection with suspected drug trafficking following two separate police investigations in Malta.In the first investigation, three Maltese men and a Swedish national were arrested during the night between Thursday and Friday following police surveillance of properties in Msida and Balzan.Searches carried out at the properties and inside a vehicle led to the discovery of substances suspected to be cocaine, ecstasy, cannabis, ketamine and LSD, allegedly prepared for trafficking.Police also seized several empty small plastic bags, digital weighing scales, mobile phones, cash and other items believed to be connected to drug trafficking.Meanwhile, in a separate investigation, a Serbian man was arrested after police allegedly discovered drugs intended for trafficking following a traffic accident in Mosta on 29th September.The man had suffered serious injuries in the accident and was arrested after his condition improved in recent days.During investigations carried out on the day of the accident, police discovered substances suspected to be cocaine, cannabis, MDMA and ketamine inside a compartment of the motorcycle.The circumstances in which the substances were found indicated that they were allegedly intended for trafficking.Police confirmed that some of the arrested men are expected to be arraigned in court today at around 2.30pm before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco.Investigations into both cases are ongoing.•
