Back story: I am an RN since 1994. I’ve worked in almost every setting, from inpatient to ER to labor and delivery. For the last 10 years I’ve been in infection prevention, and I am burnt out. I plan to retire when I’m around 60, in 6 years, so can’t decide whether to suck it up and stay in the soul sucking “cushy office job” (which it definitely is not, thats just what everyone thinks) or go back to an inpatient setting. I would like to stay with my current healthcare system but move to a different hospital which works require almost an hour drive. I’m sure I could stay here, but the management sucks. I spend a lot of time out on the floors interacting with nurses and truly miss patient care. Anyone returned to bedside after this long? As far as hands on skills I would need a refresher, but I am familiar with the policies and procedures here and can navigate Epic with my eyes shut. submitted by /u/Miserable-Drama-3684 [link] [comments]
