Arsenal came from behind to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leeds United at the Emirates, with Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimarães rescuing three crucial Premier League points.Following their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Brighton, Mikel Arteta’s side desperately needed a response, but for much of the afternoon, Leeds looked capable of inflicting another defeat.Leeds frustrate Arsenal and deservedly take the leadAs anticipated in our Arsenal v Leeds match preview, Daniel Farke’s unbeaten visitors were no pushovers.Leeds pressed aggressively from the opening minutes, restricting Arsenal’s attacking space and repeatedly catching the Gunners offside.Kai Havertz produced Arsenal’s best first-half opportunities, forcing a save from James Trafford in the 21st minute before heading over shortly before the interval. However, David Raya was arguably Arsenal’s standout performer, producing important saves as Leeds increasingly threatened. The second half began with greater attacking intent from Arsenal. Bukayo Saka found the side netting following good work from Noni Madueke, while Martin Ødegaard had an effort saved by Trafford. But Leeds remained dangerous. Raya brilliantly tipped Ao Tanaka’s effort over the crossbar in the 53rd minute, before James Justin deservedly put the visitors ahead two minutes later. At 0-1, Arsenal looked worryingly short of ideas, repeatedly surrendering possession and struggling to contain Leeds.(Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images)Calafiori sparks the comeback before Guimarães deliversJust when frustration was reaching boiling point, Riccardo Calafiori came to Arsenal’s rescue. In the 62nd minute, the Italian volleyed home from close range after Ben White headed Madueke’s cross back into the penalty area. The equaliser transformed the atmosphere at the Emirates.Arteta made some changes, introducing Viktor Gyökeres and Bruno Guimarães for Havertz & Lewis-Skelly.Eight minutes after Calafiori’s equaliser, Guimarães completed the turnaround with a superb low finish from the edge of the box.Declan Rice provided the decisive flick that set up Guimarães following an excellent passing move.Arsenal suddenly looked revitalised.Calafiori fired wide, Saka wasted an opportunity with Gyökeres well positioned, and Rice continued driving the Gunners forward. There were late scares, but Arsenal held firm. Gyökeres also missed a golden opportunity in stoppage time before Saka fired wide when through on goal.Full-time: Arsenal 2-1 Leeds United. It certainly wasn’t convincing for 90 minutes, but Arsenal showed resilience when it mattered.Three points secured, a much-needed response to Brighton and plenty for Arteta to reflect upon. What did you make of Arsenal’s performance? Was this a brilliant comeback or a worrying display rescued by individual quality? I was very worried until the final third..Have your say in the Just Arsenal comments below._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
