Nagar, Nachanahallipalya, Kuvempunagar and Ashokapuram had been complaining about an unbearable stench from the facility over the past one week.Mr. Somashekar said he visited the facility and sought details from the officials about the problem after residents made repeated telephone calls to complain about the problem.The officials were asked for the reason for the emergence of such a foul smell suddenly when no such problem had been reported over the past three years.Expressing strong displeasure over the functioning of the officials, Mr. Somashekar said they had been entrusted with the responsibility of scientifically managing waste and protecting the environment. Suspecting that improper implementation of the bioculture method during waste processing could be contributing to the foul smell, he urged the officials to investigate the matter immediately and identify the root cause of the problem.The officials were instructed to ensure the scientific segregation and proper processing of waste and take all necessary measures to prevent foul odours from spreading to residential areas.He has also urged MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha to resolve the problem immediately.Former MCC corporator M. Sunil of Vidyaranyapuram has also urged the authorities to address the problem immediately. “If officials do not address this issue scientifically, residents will face severe hardship in the coming days. People in the ward call us every day to complain about the foul smell. I urge the MCC Commissioner to issue appropriate directions to the officials and put an end to this problem,” he said.Published - October 10, 2026 09:35 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
