Students quite at ease with tough questions at The Hindu In School Quiz 2026 - The HinduPublished - October 08, 2026 08:42 pm IST - COIMBATOREWinners under Junior and Senior categories at The Hindu In School Quiz 2026 in Coimbatore on Thursday. | Photo Credit: PERIASAMY M.The Second edition of The Hindu in School Quiz 2026 presented by NGP Educational Institutions on Thursday witnessed students exhibiting their grasp of Geography, History, Literature, Sports, Food.In fact, the competition under the senior category got quite intense what with the quiz master having to decide the winner with three tie-breaker questions for three teams holding the same points. That the students were quite informed about the latest developments surfaced at the very outset when they were ready with Vithya Ramraj, the sports sensation of Coimbatore, for a question on Asian Games.Likewise, for the junior category, the questions covered various aspects, including Comics, Cartoons, Indian History, Science and Technology and Entertainment. The students seemed to be quite at ease answering what appeared to be tough questions on current affairs - a good number drawn from Teen Digest and The Hindu in School.The participants who included students from the government and Corporation schools earned their special appreciation trophies and gifts.A total of 315 teams in junior category (Classes 7 to 9) and 213 team in senior category (Classes 10 to 12) tested their prowess.Helmed by quiz master Praveenjayaraj of Multiverse Quizzing, the event witnessed top six teams under each category earning their places by their performance in the written preliminary round with 25 questions with in-built star questions as tie-breakers. One team missed the stage round by a whisker.Kumaresan Thangavelu, Deputy Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation, the chief guest, honoured the winners with prizes in the presence of Arun N. Palaniswami, Joint Managing Director, Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH), the guest of honour; Mathura V. Palanisami, Trustee, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust; and M. Natesan, Chief Operating Officer, Dr. NGP Research and Educational Trust.Mr. Kumaresan mentioned about how students of the Corporation schools were exposed to the English reading skill development initiative with The Hindu in School and Young World.NGP Educational Institutions was the title sponsor. Riders Inc – a multi-brand cycle showroom was the gift partner. Champions of the Quiz walked away with ‘Bikeark Adrenaline bicycles’, each worth ₹16,000. Other finalists won smart watches, other goodies, and trophies.The champion schools were recognised with trophies under the two categories.In the senior category, the first prize went to Aaran Jain and R. Ashwath of The Camford International School with 55 points, second prize to K .Pranay and S. Saidhithya of Vidhya Niketan Public School (Puliyakulam) with 36 points and the third prize to Divyam Gupta and Hitansh Jain of Chinmaya International Residential School with 35 points.In the junior category, the first prize was won by K. Pradyun and K. Shoumikk of Vidhya Niketan Public School, Puliakulam with 90 points, second prize by R.K. Sathya Narayanan and T. Kukilananth of Vidhya Niketan School (CBSE), Vilankurichi, with 70 points and the third prize Achintya Sankar and D.P. Shurikk of Yuva Bharathi Public School, Coimbatore, with 50 points.Students of The Camford International School, who missed the final stage round by a whisker won special appreciation.Likewise, students of Corporation Girls’ Higher Secondary School, R.S.
