Thursday's second millionaire and first to breach the 2-million gns mark was a son of Night Of Thunder (lot 409), who sold to Ace Stud online for 2.2 million gns.Out of a full-sister to G3 Bronte Cup Stakes heroine and multiple Group 1-placed River Of Stars (Sea The Stars), the colt was consigned by Fittocks Stud. Also kin to stakes winner Apadanah (Holy Roman Emperor) and G2 Coventry Stakes hero and G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and G1 Prix Morny-placed Rashabar, the colt was bred by Nic Jonsson. With Thursday's purchase, Ace Stud has now acquired five yearlings for a gross of 4,575,000gns throughout Book 1. They bought a Night Of Thunder colt (lot 276) from New England Stud for 1.6m gns on Wednesday. The colt's breeder Nic Jonsson, a champion owner in South Africa with around 100 horses, said, “I was a very unwilling seller, really, in many ways. I was very happy to keep the horse. I happen to have got lucky and had a nicely bred filly [Capture The Stars] who didn't get to the racecourse. We got lucky with Night Of Thunder, thanks mostly to Luca and Sara [Cumani].“I was planning to send her back to South Africa, the mare, and Sara said I'd be mad to do that, and she was quite right. She gave me very good advice. So, it's a good result.”The post Ace Stud Buys Night Of Thunder Colt For 2.2m gns At Tattersalls appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
