Mighty Coconut takes an interstellar journey with its new paid add-on course, Escape From Planet Xylodon in a new update that also brings mulligans and experimental hand tracking to Walkabout Mini Golf. Escape From Planet Xylodon is the forty-second course for Walkabout Mini Golf and the fifth of a planned six new courses for 2026. Along with the standard lineup of 18 collectible balls on the Easy course and the Foxhunt for the themed putter on the Hard course, Xylodon also brings two new avatar heads and five sci-fi-styled customizations for the base avatar head. Course Inspirations & Special NotesWe took a trek through Xylodon with Mighty Coconut's Shane Rhodes, who generously provided insights into the process of bringing the new course to life. You can view the full video on our YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/bVbbN6EfGV0Here are just a handful of fun facts from the course tour:The course was conceptualized and started as far back as 2022, but was shelved due to Mighty Coconut's collaboration with Meow Wolf in 2023. The similarities between that course and the plans for Xylodon necessitated some time between the two.The course features a new creature nicknamed 'the whale' internally that is rideable from two different positions. The team drew inspiration from Buck Rogers and Ed Wood in designing the alien world. As always, UploadVR thanks the team at Mighty Coconut for being so generous with their time.Images provided by Mighty CoconutNew Feature: MulligansA mulligan is a golf term for a penalty-free do-over of a bad shot. A common mistake in Walkabout is lining up a shot and accidentally tapping the ball, costing yourself a stroke in the process. I personally have done it even with the grip-to-putt feature turned on. Now session hosts can set a number of mulligans allowed per player before starting the round or mid-round via a modifier on the scorecard. A mulligan button has been added to your wristwatch to activate while playing if you shank a shot or two. Images provided by Mighty CoconutExperimental Hand Tracking Quest players can help test a new hand tracking feature while golfing. This option can be toggled on or off in the options tab. A tutorial has been included to practice the new gameplay method first. Bear in mind that the feature is still being tested and you need to have hand tracking enabled for the device to use it.Walkabout Mini Golf is available on Steam, PSVR2, Quest, Pico, and Samsung Galaxy XR. The game is also available as part of Meta's Horizon+ subscription service. The Escape from Planet Xylodon DLC is available now for $4.99.
