USMNT stays at No. 16 in latest FIFA Rankings

The U.S. Men’s National Team did not move up or down in the latest FIFA Rankings. Mauricio Pochettino’s squad stayed at No. 16 following the conclusion of the September-October window, FIFA announced Wednesday. The USMNT most recently finished a four-match schedule on Tuesday, going unbeaten over the past two weeks.A 4-1 win over Peru kicked off the window on September 26 before the Americans defeated Chile 4-2 three days later. Pochettino’s men concluded the window with back-to-back wins over Mexico 3-0 and Canada 1-0 respectively. Julian Hall led the way with three goals and one assists over the four matches while Sebastian Berhalter added two goals and two assists. Justin Ellis also contributed a pair of goals over his first USMNT appearances.13 players made their senior debuts during the four matches including Hall, Ellis, Cavan Sullivan, Mathis Albert, and Brian Schwake. Schwake and Diego Kochen both registered clean sheets in their first starts. Mexico remained top in terms of CONCACAF representatives, staying at No. 10 overall. The USMNT, Canada, Panama, Costa Rica, and Honduras rounded out the top six among CONCACAF nations. The top four places remained the same with Spain, Argentina, France, and England leading the way. Portugal jumped up to No. 5 while Brazil and Morocco both dropped in the Top 10. The USMNT will next aim to boost their ranking during the November window when they face off with Haiti in the Nations League quarterfinals.
