Hello! I currently work in inpatient rehab, but we have some pretty sick patients, including cardiac drips, blood transfusions, LVADs, etc. I recently got offered a supervisor position that’s salary based around $110K, 3 days a week, with extra shifts at $46/hr + differential. It’s also non-bedside and I’d have my own office. At the same time, I got an offer at another hospital for a cardiac icu position at $42/hr. I have no critical care background (just med surg) and I’ve always wanted to get into the ER, so I feel like this could finally open that door for me. Financially, the supervisor position makes way more sense, especially since I’m getting married next year and planning to start a family. But I’m worried that passing up icu will make it harder to get into acute care or the ER later. I really didn’t expect this promotion to come up, so now I’m completely torn. Would you take the $110K supervisor position or take the pay cut to get acute care experience and potentially open more doors? Any advice is appreciated! submitted by /u/Ocelot-Parking [link] [comments]
