In 2005 a student sold a million pixels on one webpage, 1 USD each, and made roughly a million. I always wondered why nobody tried it again. So I did — except hexagons instead of pixels. worldwidelogos.xyz — 10,230 hexagons. You click an empty one, upload your logo, pay 3 USD a month in Solana, and it's on the map. Click anyone's logo and you get their name and link. Built with Next.js and pixi.js — getting 10,230 hexagons to pan and zoom smoothly on a phone was the hard part. Happy to go into detail if anyone's curious. Now the part I actually want to talk about. I've posted around 10 TikToks and Reels over the last few weeks. Total: about 1200 views on TikTok, 220 on Instagram. Retention is fine — 47% get past three seconds — but it doesn't spread at all. One cell is sold. Mine. So I think I have a product problem, not a video problem. An empty map is worth nothing to whoever buys the first spot, and nobody shares an empty map. Two things I'd genuinely like opinions on: Does the concept hold up for you, or is the chicken-and-egg unsolvable at this scale? Would you give the first 100 away free to make it look alive — or does free kill whatever perceived value it has? Happy to answer anything about the build. submitted by /u/worldwidelogos [link] [comments]
