The WSL is taking a breather after reaching 1,500 games — and we already know some of the big TV fixtures coming next

Wait 5 sec.

Ten days to go. The Women's Super League returns on Saturday 17 October, and it comes back having just passed a fairly huge landmark: 1,500 league matches. Manchester City v Arsenal became the 1,500th BWSL game last Sunday, 15 years after the competition began in 2011. And quite a lot has happened in those 1,500 matches. The league started with eight clubs. There are now 14 in the 2026/27 season. Twenty-one different clubs have played in the WSL. Arsenal and Chelsea are the only two to have competed in every season, while Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are the four clubs to have won the title. ---- Some of the individual numbers are ridiculous as well: Millie Bright: 216 WSL appearances Vivianne Miedema: 97 WSL goals Bunny Shaw: 88 goals, eight hat-tricks and three Golden Boots Beth Mead: 55 assists and 127 goal contributions Lucy Staniforth: played for a record seven WSL clubs ---- And while we wait for the league to get going again on 17 October, we already know what the television schedule looks like for Rounds 9, 10 and 11 in November across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. There are some very tasty picks. ---- Round 9 — 7/8 November Chelsea v Everton — Sky Sports Manchester City v West Ham — Sky Sports Liverpool v Arsenal — Sky Sports Aston Villa v Manchester United — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube Crystal Palace v Charlton — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube Tottenham v Brighton — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube London City Lionesses v Birmingham City — BBC iPlayer and Sky Sports ---- Round 10 — 14/15 November Manchester United v Crystal Palace — Sky Sports Chelsea v Manchester City — BBC One Tottenham v Everton — Sky Sports Brighton v Liverpool — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube West Ham v Charlton — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube Aston Villa v Birmingham City — Sky Sports Arsenal v London City Lionesses — Sky Sports ---- Round 11 — 21/22 November Liverpool v Chelsea — Sky Sports London City Lionesses v Crystal Palace — Sky Sports Birmingham City v Manchester United — Sky Sports Manchester City v Tottenham — Sky Sports Charlton v Aston Villa — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube Everton v Brighton — Sky Sports and WSL YouTube Arsenal v West Ham — BBC Two ---- Chelsea v Manchester City on BBC One feels like the obvious headline game there, but Liverpool v Arsenal, Liverpool v Chelsea and Arsenal v London City Lionesses aren't exactly bad choices either. There's also a nice spread between Sky, BBC television/iPlayer and the WSL's YouTube coverage rather than everything disappearing behind one place. ---- So, as of 7 October: the international break has given us a bit of a breather, the WSL has crossed 1,500 matches, and there are only ten days until we're back doing the completely sensible thing of trying to follow several matches at once.
