When I first asked myself this, it was very difficult to answer the question in a positive way.It seemed that every day more and more negativity and confusion was being uncovered, from HMRC to political immunity, from the sheer volume of evidence to outright denial from City, from media meltdown and speculation to talk of billions of pounds being involved and, to cap it all, the accusation that Haaland’s transfer was not what it seemed to be, according to an ex-Borussia Dortmund director anyway. But then this ray of sunshine started to break through the darkness, and it involved one of Arsenal’s living legends: Arsene Wenger.Wenger warned football about “financial doping”The media, pundits and fans across the country started to quote the words of Le Prof from way back in the 2008/09 season: “financial doping”, and how Arsene predicted exactly what is happening today, seventeen years later.Remember how he was laughed at and vilified by said media, pundits and fans across the country?Remember how City came knocking every transfer window to sign yet another of the players he was gelling into another squad that would compete with these two clubs?Indeed, the number of Arsenal players who eventually made the move to Manchester City became another reminder of what Wenger was trying to contend with.Remember that even a section of our own fanbase turned against him, despite knowing the monetary constraints he had to work with?Yet here we are today as fans of Arsenal Football Club, holding our heads up high and, finally, understanding what Arsene had to contend with and how he knew what was going on, while not being backed, believed and instead being belittled.(Photo by Clive Mason/Getty Images)Wenger’s integrity should never be questioned againHis loyalty, performance, honesty and integrity should never be questioned again, and I’m so pleased this has happened while he and I are still around to witness it.As for finding someone of integrity to take over from another, seemingly corrupt individual, as Head of FIFA, can anyone think of a better person than our own legend Arsene Wenger?Candidates on the back of a second-class stamp please!ken1945Do you think recent events have changed the way Arsenal supporters should look back on Arsene Wenger’s later years at the club? And would you like to see Wenger eventually leading FIFA?
