File | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENTThe Telangana Government has directed district Collectors to dispose of pending applications for regularisation of government land measuring 500 square yards or less under G.O. 59 within a month, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Friday (October 9, 2026) .The decision follows Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s assurance in the Legislative Assembly on September 16 that the government would address problems relating to properties included in the prohibited properties list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act.The government issued a memorandum in accordance with G.Os. 14, 22, 29 and 41, laying down the procedure for processing the pending applications.Reviewing the matter with senior officials at the Secretariat on Friday, the Minister said applications must be examined comprehensively, taking into account original land records, the eligibility of beneficiaries and the extent of land proposed for regularisation.Even cases in which conveyance deeds had already been issued would have to be examined comprehensively, he said. Applications involving disputes or pending court proceedings would be decided only in accordance with the directions of the courts concerned.Mr. Reddy said the implementation of G.O. 59 was suspended after the previous government’s tenure, and several applications filed under the G.O. remained pending for years, forcing people with small house plots and other properties to make repeated visits to government offices.The government had also issued instructions permitting the registration of houses, plots and flats included in the 22-A list but having approvals from the GHMC, HMDA, DTCP or municipal authorities, subject to the prescribed conditions.Steps had also been initiated to resolve urban land ceiling applications pending for decades and problems relating to patta lands for which the non-agricultural land assessment (NALA) process had not been completed.The Minister said the government was working to resolve 10 to 12 categories of issues linked to Section 22-A through a fast-track approach. The latest memorandum on G.O. 59 applications was part of these efforts.Published - October 09, 2026 04:37 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
