Reece James missed Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury. The Blues battered Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge thanks to a pairs of braces from Jordan Henderson and Joao Pedro, and a goal from Morgan Rogers. Evanilson scored the Cherries’ only goal of the game. It’s the west London outfit’s first win in four Premier League matches, taking them up to fifth in the table, though they had to do it without James, who was left out of the matchday squad. The Chelsea captain returned to training last week after missing the defeat to Brentford with an injury. But Xabi Alonso has revealed that the England international picked up a knee issue ahead of this weekend. James will be assessed on a week-by-week basis, with no indication of when he might returns to action. Reece James injury setback as Chelsea star Caicedo returnsAlonso said: “He felt something, but after we did the tests later in the afternoon, and he had some issues on the knee. So we need to check how long it will be.“So we’re really assessing, week by week.”The Chelsea boss was, though, happy to welcome Moises Caicedo back into the fold after missing all but 14 minutes of the new season up until now. “The plan was for him not to play the whole game, even though you always want to have Moi on the pitch. But he’s felt well,” said Alonso. “With him, we have a better midfield area, and when you are better in the middle, you have a more complete team, and I think that is something to build around with the players that we have up front, today solid in defence as well. “So we’re happy that Moi is feeling better because he’s going to be a key player for us. We knew that, and we have seen today.”Read – Arsenal ready bid for £34m RB Leipzig wingerRead More – Man City continue to embarrass themselvesSee Also – Five of the best Premier League away kits in 2026/27Follow the Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Reece James injury setback revealed but Chelsea boosted by Caicedo return appeared first on The Football Faithful.
