Increased adoption of solar energy would promote clean energy usage while providing consumers with an opportunity to reduce their electricity bills. The officials explained that eligible domestic consumers could receive a maximum Central subsidy of ₹78,000 for installing a rooftop solar system with a capacity of 3 kWp at the rate of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kWp and ₹18,000 per kW for the additional 1 kWp. No additional subsidy would be given for capacity exceeding 3 kWp.Financial assistance would be given for rooftop solar installations undertaken by Group Housing Societies and Resident Welfare Associations (GHS/RWAs) to meet the electricity requirements of common facilities, including electric vehicle (EV) charging. An assistance of ₹18,000 per kW for capacities up to 500 kWp subject to the prescribed limit of 3 kWp per household would be provided for GHS/RWAs.To expand renewable energy usage across the State, the Telangana government approved the installation of rooftop solar systems with a cumulative capacity of 4,066 MW for 20.33 lakh households under the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model on November 15, 2025. Under the initiative, 10,11,533 households within the TGSPDCL limits were identified with a targeted capacity of 2,023 MW.The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has accorded in-principle approval for 20,175 solar installations in the first phase. To promote clean energy usage in rural areas, the State government gave administrative sanction of ₹943.47 crore covering 40,349 households across 80 villages, with an estimated solar capacity of about 81 MW.
