Hey all, Want to share this app I've built on the side. DisplayWave is a menu bar app for external monitors on macOS. It does a handful of things: - Turn monitors off and on without unplugging them, listed by name. The monitor loses signal and goes to standby. - Brightness and color temperature per monitor. It changes the real backlight over DDC when the monitor supports it, and dims on the GPU when it doesn't (common with docks and some HDMI ports). - Presets for brightness and warmth, and layouts that save your arrangement, main display, resolution and refresh rate. - Keep Mac Awake, and Blackout, which turns every screen dark while the Mac keeps running. Any key or click brings them back. Why: I used MonitorControl for a long time. It's great for brightness, but I also wanted to turn monitors off and warm them up in the evening. BetterDisplay does all of that and a lot more, but it's far more than I need, and a lot of it is in the paid tier. So I built the small set of features actually use. https://github.com/kah-ve/DisplayWave submitted by /u/Gabcdefga [link] [comments]
