Week 42 of 52 | MRNA A Critical Test of Historical ResistanceModerna, Inc.BATS:MRNARobert_V12Moderna ( MRNA ) has made an impressive comeback, but the stock is now approaching an area where things could get interesting. After spending years in a downtrend and eventually finding a bottom around $20–$25, MRNA has staged an aggressive recovery. The stock is now trading near $225, putting it right back into a major historical supply zone that previously played an important role in its price structure. The question now isn't whether the rally has been strong. It clearly has. The question is whether buyers have enough momentum left to push through this resistance or whether we're approaching a temporary top. The Bigger Picture Looking at the weekly chart, there are three things worth paying attention to. First, the overall structure has changed significantly. What used to be a persistent downtrend has turned into a powerful bullish move, with buyers taking control and pushing the stock through several previous resistance levels. Second, the recent increase in trading volume suggests renewed market participation. That's encouraging for bulls, but a volume spike after an extended rally can also occur near exhaustion points. Third, MRNA is now testing the $225–$250 area, a zone that has historical significance going back to the previous cycle. This is where I would expect some serious competition between buyers looking for continuation and sellers looking to take profits. Bullish Scenario: A Breakout Above $250 If MRNA manages to break above the $250 area and establish a convincing weekly close above resistance, the technical picture could become even more interesting. A confirmed breakout would suggest that buyers have absorbed the selling pressure in this zone. In that scenario, I'd be watching $280 first, followed by the psychological $300 level. However, I wouldn't necessarily chase the breakout. A successful retest of the former resistance as support could offer a cleaner entry with a more defined risk level. Bullish confirmation: Weekly close above $250, ideally followed by a successful retest. Bearish Scenario: Rejection at Historical Supply The alternative is equally important. MRNA has already experienced a tremendous rally, and the stock is approaching an area where previous buyers may be looking to exit positions. If the price starts showing rejection around $225–$250, particularly through long upper wicks or a bearish weekly candle, that could be the first indication of weakening momentum. The $200 level becomes especially important here. A move below $200, followed by a failed attempt to reclaim it, could open the door to a deeper correction toward $180 and potentially $175. That wouldn't necessarily mean the entire bullish recovery is over. After a rally of this magnitude, a meaningful pullback could still occur within a broader uptrend. Bearish confirmation: Rejection from supply, followed by a sustained breakdown below $200. What I'm Watching Next For now, I don't think this is the ideal place to blindly chase the stock higher or immediately bet against it. The momentum is clearly bullish, but the location of the price matters just as much as the direction. I'll be watching how MRNA reacts around $225–$250, whether volume continues to support the rally, and most importantly, whether $200 holds if sellers step in. Above $250, the bullish continuation scenario gains credibility. Below $200, the probability of a deeper correction becomes more concerning. Between those levels, patience may be the best trade. Sometimes the best opportunities come from waiting for the market to make the first move.
