Hello! I am Ung-Gyo Kim, the game designer at KALA GAMES based in Seoul, Korea. We are looking for an artist to help us bring the cosmic horror of our in-development project, 'DEADSHIP', to life. Please review the project introduction and requirements below, and feel free to contact us if you are interested! Email: [kyo@kala.games](mailto:kyo@kala.games) 1. Project Introduction: DEADSHIP DEADSHIP is a Sci-Fi Horror RPG set in an isolated spaceship. Players must choose which crew members to dispatch and who will survive, and those choices lead to the permanent death of the crew. The core appeal of the game is the desperate and grotesque experience of engaging in strategic turn-based combat against former comrades who have mutated into monsters, and dismembering them limb by limb to survive. What We Are Looking For With the specifications and art style for the game’s assets being finalized, we are soon heading to the process of creating assets for numerous characters/creatures, aiming for a release in the 4Q of 2027. We are looking for someone who can review our design documents and create assets that fit well with our overall art style. Creature Design: Above all, we are primarily looking for someone who can excellently design bizarre and captivating creatures. Visual Contrast: We hope for a stark visual contrast between the design of attractive human companions that users can feel attached to, and the horrific mutated monster forms of those exact same individuals. 3. Responsibilities Character design for humans, monsters, and items (Pixel art preferred) Sprite and animation work Creating assets matching our art style We want to work with someone who shares our passion for sci-fi horror and monsters. As we are Korean/English speakers, at least fluent English is required. 4. Contract Terms and Working Conditions Contract Type: Freelance contract. Budget (Commercial Use Included): Our baseline budget is strictly adhered to this subreddit's minimum rule. So the exact scope of work and hours per month will be adjusted to match your rates. If your expected rate or working method differs, this is fully negotiable, so please feel free to email us to discuss! Working Method: As our required art asset specifications are highly detailed, we strongly prefer candidates with extensive experience in game art asset production. Frequent and active communication is essential. We are looking for a dedicated partner who will treat this project as their top priority, rather than just one of many side jobs. Timeline: We would like to conduct a paid test between Oct and Nov to see if we can make a good team. Full-scale production is scheduled to begin in Jan 2027. From 1Q 2027, we’d like to check if positive Steam marketing results follow, and we hope to continuously extend the contract and work together until the official release in Q4 2027. 5. How to Apply If you think your art style fits well with DEADSHIP, please send your portfolio to the email below! (Providing a rough rate card of your previous works and your preferred working method when applying will greatly help smooth discussions.)
