I've no idea if OOP's story is true, but I actually do know someone with 3 autistic kids out of 3. They have different issues and levels of autonomy but they're all diagnosed on the spectrum. From what she was willing to share, there's something genetic at play and by the time her first kid got diagnosed, she'd already had the other two and could only wait to see if they'd also develop issues.
