Giving blood and air in the line after / before running the NS?

Wait 5 sec.

Hi sorry if this is dumb but I’m brand new. Can anyone tell me why after giving a simple standard 1 u of PRBC would there be like 8 inches of air in the line above and slightly inside the pump? Not below the line. But the issue is then the person couldn’t run the NS after to clear the line? Like clamp the blood/ unclamp the NS. Can anyone explain this to me and how it can be avoided? I’ve never seen that before and don’t want it to happen! submitted by /u/Majestic_Spring8343 [link] [comments]
