People have long suspected that companies like Amazon monitor our purchases to tailor recommendations and more to each user. However, an Amazon user seems to have found a page that seemingly confirms the online retailer is watching and taking notes, no matter how brutally honest those notes might be. One Amazon user shared her discovery on Threads, claiming that the site was using her purchase history to make assumptions about her. “I stumbled upon a page of assumptions that Amazon has made about me based on my purchases,” user “fangirlinmegan” claimed. She provided a screenshot of the page, adding, “I’m literally speechless.” Megan shared a screenshot of the Amazon page where numerous “product preferences” and “hobbies & interests” can be seen. Details listed include things such as the customer “consistently repurchases cat hairball treatment” and that she “hosts themed celebrations.” However, one of the more bizarre assumptions made by Amazon was circled at the bottom. It reads: “has flat buttocks.” “I mean it ain’t wrong but damn did you have to call me out like that?” Megan joked in a reply to her own Thread. Others replied, joking, “Amazon roasting you.” Many wanted to know what she had ordered that had led Amazon to make such a bold assumption about her. The customer claimed it was likely her order of “butt scrunch leggings” that had done it. The Amazon feature has been around for a while While Amazon introduced the feature several months ago, it seems many have heard about it for the first time. According to Dexerto, the feature, known as the “About You” page, was introduced in May 2026. Similar practices have been employed by other corporations such as McDonald’s, which allegedly uses customer data to predict future visits. Someone discovered a new Amazon AI feature that summarizes what it knows about you and I am crying of laughter pic.twitter.com/KbwX2SpCMu— Justine Moore (@venturetwins) October 7, 2026 Megan showed others how to check their own page to see what assumptions Amazon had supposedly made. Checking the About You page is simple enough; to access it, users must go to “Account,” then find “Ordering and shopping preferences,” and then “Your shopping preferences.” Then scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Manage your information” to see your details. Users quickly began sharing their own summaries from Amazon, and some of them didn’t hold back. One user’s Amazon About You page reads: “likes brunettes with muscles,” meanwhile another user’s purchases led Amazon to assume they were “too short to reach into a 40-inch deep box.” Of course, it’s not completely accurate, with Amazon assuming one customer owned two crows, to which they asked, “What could I possibly have done to suggest this[?]” Plenty of users shared their embarrassing or funny secrets that they had no idea Amazon knew about them, and while most found it funny, others asked the slightly concerning question, “WHY DOES AMAZON KNOW THIS?”
