Tottenham veteran Ben Davies has opened up about his relationship with Heung‑min Son following the South Korean star’s departure to America in 2025.Heung‑min Son has continued to showcase his class since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Los Angeles FC, where he has recorded an impressive 43 goal involvements in 49 games.His impact, however, is not limited to just club football as Son has also been shining for his country. However, with distance having separated the two, Davies has now confirmed that he remains very close with his son’s godfather.He said: “He’s a top, top person and he’s a very genuine guy. You know, for all of the fame and icon status that comes with him, it’d be very easy for him not to have his feet on the ground, but he’s so down to earth. We became incredibly close. We spent pretty much every day together whilst we were here. We signed a year apart and he’s still a great friend. I speak to him all the time.”On whether they still speak regularly, Davies added: “Yeah. Very, very regular.”And when asked if Son is his son’s godfather, he confirmed: “Yes, he is.”Davies’ importance in the Spurs dressing roomWhile Son has departed, Davies remains at Spurs after signing a one-year deal last summer.Although his game time has been limited, his experience is vital in the dressing room, particularly in helping younger players settle. Archie Gray previously spoke about how Davies supported him during his early days at the club.Speaking in 2025 after Spurs’ Europa League triumph, Gray said: “Ben deserves every moment of this and more. He, his whole family, they’re incredible people, not just him. His whole family has taken me under their wing. They’ve really helped me this year.“If he wasn’t here, I probably would have struggled a little bit off the pitch, on the pitch. I can’t say enough words about him. He’s been here for me the whole year. I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’ve been able to do so far this year without him.“For him, this moment, he deserves it 10 times over. What a player. The things he’s done for this club are incredible and he’ll continue to do it as well.
