I built a free tool that turns deep-sky astrophotos into cinematic parallax videos

Wait 5 sec.

I'm into astrophotography and I always wanted to turn my photos into short videos, but the usual workflow (separate stars from the nebula, animate layers, add music) takes hours in video editors. So I built VideoEstelar: you upload a single deep-sky photo and it separates stars from nebulosity, applies different zoom speeds to each layer to create a parallax effect, adds camera rotation, bloom and vignette, and renders a vertical/square/landscape video. You can upload your own audio or let it generate original space ambient music (no copyright issues). How it works: Python + OpenCV for the image pipeline, Flask for the web app, ffmpeg for encoding, and a small synth I wrote with NumPy for the music. It runs on a free tier, so renders can take a few minutes. Status: it's in testing. The first video is free (with a small watermark). There are no paid plans yet, I want to see first whether people find it useful. The video attached is the Hercules Cluster (M13) from my own photo. I'd really appreciate feedback: is the result convincing? What would make you use it? Anything confusing in the app? 👉 videoestelar.com submitted by /u/DismalChemical679 [link] [comments]
