Curious if he did a HELOC to pay off his debts and then immediately ran his cards up again. That’s the type of mistake I made numerous times when I couldn’t get my spending under control (later found out I’m bipolar). I finally had to sign up for a Debt Relief plan, but now that I’m medicated I’m also finally able to adequately address what got me there in the first place. This person needs that kind of financial support and education. This issue never resolves itself. Even if they declare bankruptcy, which they might have to do, the second they’re able to spend again they will. It’s a suffocating problem to have but it’s not something for people to fix for you.
