Roberto De Zerbi got a response from many of Tottenham’s summer signings against Man Utd after challenging them in his pre-match press conference. Most of Spurs’ summer additions have not hit the ground running at N17, even though all of them arrived with plenty of Premier League experience under their belt. That is something that the Tottenham boss called out on Friday, with De Zerbi admitting that many of the summer arrivals are much better players than they have shown so far.Several of them stepped up to the plate at Old Trafford and showed how good they can be, as they helped the Lilywhites emerge with a 1-1 draw.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramRoberto De Zerbi praises Tottenham’s centre-backs and SavioThe Tottenham boss decided to hand Marcos Senesi his second Premier League start of the season alongside Jan Paul van Hecke, with the Italian deciding to rest Micky van de Ven after his exertions during the international break.De Zerbi admitted that he was pleased with how his two centre-backs performed at Old Trafford, and also reserved praise for Savio, insisting that the winger’s potential is huge. When asked if he saw the kind of performance he was demanding from his summer signings pre-match, De Zerbi told Football.London: “Listen, I think we played very well. Senesi, JP Van Hecke played very well. We can play better. We can play better in the last third. We can play better in the middle of the pitch to keep order in every situation, especially in the first half.“I think we could create more chances if we would have kept the order on the pitch. Savio is a talent. He is still very young. He has to improve. He has to make a switch because his potential is clear for everyone, and he has to work to be better, better, better, better, like the top players.”Sandro Tonali showed against Man Utd why he cost £100mAnother one of Spurs’ summer additions, Sandro Tonali, arguably also had his best game in a Tottenham shirt on Saturday. The Lilywhites’ record signing has been coming for huge criticism over recent weeks, with many pundits accusing the North Londoners of having overpaid for the Italian. However, Tonali demonstrated yesterday exactly why De Zerbi was desperate to sign him, with the United midfielders struggling to cope with the Spurs man’s athleticism, intelligence and intensity.Like Elliot Anderson at Man City, one is rarely going to see Tonali play unbelievable line-breaking passes or dribble past several players, but he can be relied upon to constantly put out fires and ensure that the defence is not regularly exposed to counter-attacks.READ MORE: ‘I kissed Rodrigo’ – De Zerbi reveals why he was actually pleased with BentancurThe post Roberto De Zerbi says three Tottenham new boys came to the party against Man Utd appeared first on Spurs Web.
