A first Ligue 1 start for American fullback Bryan Reynolds will certainly go down as a memorable one. Reynolds registered two assists on Sunday as Stade Rennais defeated Auxerre 4-1 at home. The veteran defender earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors after delivering his best shift yet for his new club. The two clubs traded goals in the first half with Auxerre’s Cameron Archer cancelling out Esteban Lepaul’s opening tally. Reynolds’ dangerous service on the wing led to Stade Rennais taking a 2-1 lead early in the second half as Adrien Thomasson headed home the 25-year-old’s cross.Boulaye Dia extended Stade Rennais’ lead to 3-1 in second-half stoppage time before Reynolds teed up Dia for his second goal in quick succession.Reynolds finished the match with three chances created, three duels won, and two defensive clearances. It was his second start for Stade Rennais since joining from Westerlo last summer. Stade Rennais now sits third in the Ligue 1 table with four victories out of six matches so far and Reynolds’ impactful showing on Sunday could see him retain his spot for the resumption of UEFA Europa League action midweek. Stade Rennais will host OFI Crete on Thursday before traveling to Paris FC next weekend. Here is a closer look at this week’s top Americans Abroad performances:Alex FreemanAlex Freeman’s international form is carrying back over to club level.Freeman logged a strong 90-minute shift on Saturday in Villarreal’s 1-0 La Liga road defeat to Real Madrid.
