My app reads kids' bedtime stories out loud. A tester put it well: the narration works fine, but at low volume he wasn't sure it sounded different enough from plain TTS. That's the part I can't measure. I've listened to the same passages so many times I have no idea what a first-time listener hears anymore. What I'm trying to figure out: - Is this pacing, expression or just intelligibility at low volume? - Do you A/B narration with actual users, or pick a voice and move on? - Anyone switched TTS providers and had users notice? Or was it invisible to everyone except you? Context: kids 3-9, listened to in a dark room at low volume, usually with a parent in the room half asleep. Different bar than an audiobook or a nav voice. submitted by /u/Miserable-Shock3552 [link] [comments]
