Riccardo Calafiori has taken full advantage of the freedom Mikel Arteta has given him to push forward and contribute goals for Arsenal. The Italian defender has become a more attacking presence than many expected, using his ability to carry the ball out of defence and create opportunities in the final third.Arsenal signed him because they believed he could progress the ball effectively and help the team build attacks from the back. So far, Calafiori has demonstrated those qualities, making himself a valuable option in both defence and attack.Calafiori makes his mark for ArsenalThe defender can operate at centre back or left back, giving Arteta valuable tactical flexibility. The strike came just days after he attracted attention for scoring his first goal for the Italian national team. His performances for club and country have demonstrated his ability to contribute in the attacking third. Calafiori has become a useful source of goals, providing Arsenal with another dimension beyond his defensive responsibilities. The Gunners will be pleased with the impact he is making, especially given how effectively he has adapted to Arteta’s demands. He has registered five goals and assists for club and country during the current campaign.Only Brighton and Hove Albion’s Maxim De Cuyper has recorded more goal contributions among defenders, placing Calafiori in impressive company. The statistics underline how influential the Arsenal player has become in attacking situations. His contributions are particularly notable because he remains a defender with responsibilities at the other end of the pitch.Arsenal will hope Calafiori can maintain this form throughout the season. His defensive versatility, ability to carry the ball forward and growing attacking output make him an important part of Arteta’s squad._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
