I started developing BuildNotch because I wanted the things I check all day in one place at the top of my screen. I kept switching between music, projects, GitHub, a timer, and little developer tools. The notch began as something just for my own workflow. It’s grown into two modes: a quieter Focus mode and a Programmer mode with more tools close at hand. Here’s what’s in it now: Pomodoro timers with a few genuinely cute themes Music controls and a card that picks up colors from what’s playing Real project spaces with folders, icons, and repos A GitHub contribution streak with your profile picture Tasks and rotating quotes for a little daily wisdom Automatically detected AI apps, including some niche ones (Opencode, T3Code), with usage at a glance A code playground, a real terminal, and a quick JSON formatter A clipboard that recognizes code Custom wallpapers and themes you can choose inside the notch -> see in the demo The part that means the most to me is that 23 people have paid for it. I know that at this point it's not the biggest number for a paid tool, but I built this to solve my own problem, so finding out other people want it on their desktops is pretty incredible. I’m grateful to everyone who’s tried it and told me what could be better. You can see it at buildnotch.app. I’d love to know: what would make a notch like this useful enough to keep on your screen, and, honestly, would you even install this as a Windows user? I'm trying to constantly get feedback on this so I can improve the experience. submitted by /u/Which-Journalist-352 [link] [comments]
