Samsung's 1 TB 9100 Pro PCIe 5.0 SSD just dropped under $200 for Prime Day, an almost 50% price cut

Wait 5 sec.

9100 Pro 1 TB: was $339.99 now $196.64A solid and very speedy drive that we liked quite a lot when we reviewed the 2 TB model last year; it offers impressive sequential speeds and is rather efficient, though 4K performance is a tad poor. Still, with the memory crisis ongoing, it's a solid drive for the price. Key specs: 14,700 MB/s read | 13,400 MB/s write | PCIe 5.0View DealLet's face it, memory and SSD prices aren't going back to normal for some time, so you've gotta take the wins when they come, and this Samsung drive is a real Prime Day win. For under $197, you can pick up the Samsung 9100 Pro 1 TB model over at Amazon. That's a $143 saving, or just over 40% off. That's not pre-memory crisis pricing, but it's the best we'll likely get for some time. We're curating all the best Prime Day PC gaming deals hereAs we noted in our review of the 2 TB model last year, the 9100 Pro is a super speedy drive that can be surprisingly efficient. This Gen 5 drive was among the fastest of the drives we tested at the time, with it performing phenomenally in sequential performance tests. In CrystalDiskMark, we saw it land at an average of 14,322 MB/s on write, and 13,318 MB/s on read. If you are looking to do productivity work on the drive, it will absolutely blaze through your PC. However, there is a caveat here: in random 4K performance, we found read speeds to be just a smidge above average performance and 4K write speeds to place below the likes of the Seagate FireCuda 540 and Crucial T700 2 TB. Random 4K performance is good for gaming specifically, so that means this SSD's gaming performance won't be the fastest out there. Still, you're getting an impeccable drive, and with the memory crisis ongoing, we have less freedom to pick and choose among the best drives. If you need something fast under $200, this Samsung drive is worth a look. Right now, storage is in such a bad place, economically, that we'll take all the deals we can get, and by current standards, this is a bit of a steal. There is a model you can pick up with an included heatsink, but it's around $150 more, and in our testing, the heatsink isn't great anyway. If you aren't satisfied with just 1 TB in your machine, you can pick up a much bigger model. The 4 TB version is currently available for $735 right now, which is a lot of money but almost $700 less than its retail price at Amazon.Alternatively, if you can handle half the speeds and a PCIe 4.0 drive, the Crucial P310 2 TB SSD has dropped to $250. As well as this, you can bump your storage all the way up to a mighty 8 TB for $2,280, which is a drop of just over $400. Given the memory crisis is likely to continue to rage for at least another year or so, now is a decent time to pick up a drive if you need to upgrade any time soon. The 2 TB model was down at this price briefly in June, but we haven't seen it this low since prices started to rise at the beginning of the year. 👉Shop all of Amazon's SSD deals here👈
