I am seeking advice on whether nursing is really as bad as people make it out to be.

Wait 5 sec.

I’m a high school senior, and I have always, and I mean ALWAYS, wanted to work in the medical field. I’ve always enjoyed seeing nurses work, and I wanted to become a nurse. I mean, I still do, but I’ve been reconsidering it lately. My main goal has always been to become a Nurse Practitioner, but I’ve seen SO many nursing horror stories online. Every time a nurse pops up on my feed, they’re begging younger people NOT to become nurses. I’ve heard so many negative things, and even when I talk to actual nurses in person, they tell me not to do it. So, I wanted to ask for y’all’s advice. Maybe some of you could give me a different perspective? I’m not going into nursing for the whole “soft nursing” trend or the money. I genuinely want to help people in any way I can. I was also thinking about becoming a respiratory therapist, but they don’t seem to have as many different career paths as nursing does. One thing I love about nursing is how many different specialties and opportunities there are. You can do so many different things with a nursing degree! I’ve also considered becoming a PA, so now I’m not really sure which direction to go in. submitted by /u/Comfortable_Fix_8520 [link] [comments]
