The Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy and Richarlison’s representatives have come to an understanding following their standoff during the summer window. While we still do not know the full details of what went on between Richarlison and Spurs in the summer, we do know that the relationship between the parties soured.Roberto De Zerbi revealed that he was not the one who decided to leave Richarlison out of the Premier League squad, hinting that the club were forced into the decision following the striker’s behaviour. The Tottenham boss said last month: “I know what the club has done in the last 45 days with him and what was the behaviour of Richarlison. I can’t explain because it’s not right, but I’m sorry because it could be different. Even the end of the story, but a different way, I think, it could have been better.”It is also confirmed by several sources that Richarlison rejected the chance to join Everton and Vasco Da Gama in the summer.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramTottenham will not trigger option to extend Richarlison’s contractWhile the 29-year-old’s current deal runs out next summer, Spurs do have the option to extend his contract by another year, which could help the club protect his market value. However, we have already heard reports over recent weeks that Tottenham are willing to sell Richarlison for a cut-price fee when the window reopens in January. This has now been confirmed by Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, who revealed that Spurs will not extend Richarlison’s contract and will facilitate his move in January.Andrade said on ESPN Brazil’s YouTube channel (as relayed by Sport Witness): “From January, the doors are wide open. Richarlison will leave Tottenham in January, or possibly English football, for another market. Tottenham have told his representatives that they’ll facilitate his departure.“He won’t need to sign a pre-contract and then wait until June to leave for free. Tottenham have already informed his representatives that they won’t trigger the automatic extension option. Tottenham could do that to create a bigger battle, but they won’t.”Richarlison will not be returning to BrazilMultiple outlets also reported in the summer that Richarlison’s camp were considering legal action against Spurs in an effort to release him from his contract and leave as a free agent.Andrade has now shared that those attempts from the striker’s camp are now dead, and also asserted that a return to Brazil is not on the cards for the Tottenham man any longer. The journalist continued: “The attempt to terminate the contract for just cause, or even by mutual agreement, is dead. Both possibilities are dead.Tottenham’s legal department and, especially, Richarlison’s legal team realised there weren’t sufficient grounds to take this forward.“So what’s certain is this: Brazil is out of the equation, termination by mutual agreement or for just cause is completely off the table, and the extension won’t happen either.”READ MORE: Harry Redknapp makes bold prediction on where Tottenham will finish this seasonThe post Tottenham reach a compromise with Richarlison after near-legal battle in the summer appeared first on Spurs Web.
