Resuming after Tuesday's showstopping performance at Park Paddocks, the Godolphin team made its sixth seven-figure purchase of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale when striking early on Wednesday for a 1.5 million gns Night Of Thunder colt from Hascombe and Valiant Stud.Lot 189 is out of the Gleneagles mare Purple Ribbon, a Listed-placed sibling to five black-type winners, most notably the G1 Gold Cup hero Courage Mon Ami (Frankel) and the G3 Bronte Cup Fillies' Stakes winner Danielle (Cracksman). This is also the family of this year's GI Belmont Derby scorer Title Role (Too Darn Hot).“We've had the family for generations,” said breeder Anthony Oppenheimer. “Title Role was very good this year – he won a Group 1, a Group 2 and a Group 3. He's not doing too badly. We had high expectations, I'm afraid. We would have been very disappointed if he did not sell well. He is a lovely horse. Purple Ribbon has a Study Of Man foal at foot.”Godolphin's formidable display at Book 1 shows no signs of slowing down, with Sheikh Mohammed's operation now having signed for 14 yearlings for a total spend of 18,080,000gns.The post Familiar Story as Godolphin Secure 1,500,000gns Night Of Thunder Colt at Tattersalls Book 1 appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
