Trying to figure out where to live to experience the most of STL’s Asian culture

Wait 5 sec.

Hey y’all, So I’m moving back home to St. Louis after living in the PNW the best part of the last four years (I previously lived in STL for 14 years before that). While out west between work and rec sports, almost my entire social circle ended up being Asian (I’m a pasty white guy), and I completely fell in love with the food, markets, events, and overall sense of community that there is in Seattle and Portland. I want to live in an area with an active sense of community and somewhere with a high concentration of Asian owned restaurants, cafes, bars, and international markets where people actually gather and hang out. I have a car, so I don't need it to be 100% walkable from my place, but I’d love to be close to a solid social area if possible. I’m a single guy so it may help if there’s plenty of young people who live or gather in the area I’m in, but I don’t want to ask for too much all in one place. Right now, I’m looking at the South Grand area of Tower Grove, but I’ve also heard a lot about the Olivette/Overland area and even further out in Maryland Heights. I am open to any of those neighborhoods, but I definitely want it to be somewhere that I can easily walk or park somewhere and explore an area or just enjoy a coffee or meal and have that community feel. Anyone in the area who can recommend the best part of the city/county for my very specific goal living situation wise, I’d greatly appreciate it! submitted by /u/iwts15 to r/StLouis [link] [comments]
