Disney World Opens Surprise New Attraction at Former Site of DinoLand U.S.A.

Walt Disney World Resort has installed some temporary new attractions in the former footprint of DinoLand U.S.A. The new experiences are meant to help with the decreased ride capacity at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park as Walt Disney Imagineers transform the space into a Tropical Americas-inspired land called Pueblo Esperanza.Pueblo Esperanza at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme ParkCredit: DisneyAt D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney Imagineering confirmed that the once-blue-sky idea for a Tropical Americas-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park was coming to life. Pueblo Esperanza will be home to three new attractions: a Disney-animal-themed carousel, a ride inspired by Casita from Encanto (2021), and an Indiana Jones retheme of DINOSAUR that differs from Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland Park.Beginning in January 2025, DinoLand U.S.A. closed in phases. Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, TriceraTop Spin, and Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama (including the Fossil Fun Games) closed first. The Boneyard play area followed in September 2025. The outlet shared this photo on Facebook:It’s unclear how long Walt Disney World Resort plans to have the lawn games in this space.
