Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has said he is proud after breaking the Premier League’s single-season assist record.Fernandes scored one and created another as Manchester United beat Brighton 3-0 to conclude their Premier League campaign with three points. The Portugal international’s corner was met by Patrick Dorgu to head home the opener, recording his 21st assist of the campaign. Having levelled the previous 20-assist record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne last weekend, Fernandes claimed the record outright at the Amex Stadium. His 21 assists have also won Fernandes the Premier League’s Playmaker Award for the first time.Speaking to Sky Sports about the achievement, Fernandes said: “It’s great [breaking the assists record]. I feel very happy for that. Very proud moment, obviously it is not something I would dream or think about until I got this close.“Today I was lucky enough to get that. Jonny [Evans] believed more than me in that set-piece we prepared for Patrick because I was not so sure he would be able to score with his head. I got my assist but the main thing is we won today and finished very strong.“It was already special being in their [Thierry Henrry & Kevin de Bruyne] company. We are talking about two players that made the Premier League so great, and they were two of the greatest in the Premier League. Creation has not been something that has changed or improved, The biggest difference is my team-mates have scored more goals than before, and I get the credit for that.”Read – Our writers’ end-of-season Premier League awards for 2025/26See more – Five of the best goals of the 2025-26 Premier League seasonFollow the Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Fernandes proud after breaking Premier League assist record first appeared on The Football Faithful.
