A chestnut filly by Home Affairs sold to SP Bloodstock to top the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at A$680,000.A half-sister to Group 1 winner Madame Pommery (No Nay Never), the filly was consigned as lot 251 by Coolmore Stud. Coolmore's Home Affairs led the sire table with all nine weanlings all selling for A$1.95 million.Coolmore Stud bought the filly's dam Cancel (Exceed And Excel) from the 2018 National Broodmare Sale for A$400,000. Cancel is a full-sister to Australian champion, G1 Blue Diamond Stakes heroine and G1 Golden Slipper second Earthquake.“It's a horse I couldn't leave the sale without,” SP Bloodstock's Stefan Pardi said. “When you look at the page of this filly she's a half to a Group 1 winner. She's a filly, she isn't a colt, so that residual value will always be there. The stallion I believe, next year in 2027, will be the hottest stallion in Australia.”The European-based duo of Charles Shanahan and Ciaran 'Flash' Conroy of Glenvale Stud picked up a pair of weanlings for A$400,000. Sold as lot 2, an Anamoe filly out of Kapralova (War Front) was acquired for A$180,000 from Aristia Park. Later in the day, they also acquired lot 65, a Stay Inside colt out of Never Second (Zoustar) for A$220,000 from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft.“We have purchased two very nice horses nice and early in the sale, to hopefully get some value,” Conroy told TTR AusNZ.“The boys down here say that the stallion [Stay Inside] is doing very well and promising, so that's hopefully going to continue and his stock keep getting more valuable.“We do like going for the exciting young stallions and the Anamoe is in the same boat, but it's nice to be down here in Australia buying nice horses.“They will be coming to a yearling sale, hopefully they grow out well, develop well and we will see how we go.”Overall, 203 lots sold of 272 offered (75%) for a gross of A$15,918,500. The average was A$78,416 and the median was A$50,000.“It was a very solid day's trade,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. “To have the numbers very much in line with last year is very pleasing. The clearance rate is a touch higher than last year and it should continue to improve overnight. We had 62 six-figure weanlings on the day, it was almost a mirror image of last year. We just had a few more withdrawals and a few less horses catalogued – so we're delighted.”The post A$680k Home Affairs Filly Leads Magics, As Conroy And Shanahan Partner On Two appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
