On its second day in the theatres, the film earned Rs 11 crore net in India and Rs 20 crore gross overseas. The film’s worldwide total now stands at Rs 76.18 crore after an impressive Rs 45 crore opening day haul. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 11.05 crore net in India with 4,886 shows and an occupancy rate of 44.5 per cent. On its opening day, which also coincided with Mohanlal’s birthday, the film had collected Rs 15.85 crore net in India across 5,500 shows.Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the thriller is now inching closer to surpassing the Hindi version of Drishyam, which had earned Rs 110 crore after its 2015 release. Meanwhile, the Hindi version of Drishyam 2 went on to collect Rs 342 crore worldwide, while Mohanlal’s original sequel had opted for a direct OTT release during the COVID-19 pandemic.The original Drishyam, starring Mohanlal, despite a slow start, had gone on to earn Rs 62 crore in its lifetime run and inspired remakes in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Despite featuring stars like Nayanthara and Fahadh Faasil, the film failed to strike a chord with audiences and wrapped up with a worldwide gross of Rs 79.91 crore, including Rs 31.59 crore from India.Mohanlal’s last major hit before this was Thudarum (2025), which reportedly earned Rs 236 crore worldwide. Following that, he appeared in films like Kannappa, Hridayapoorvam, and Vrusshabha. While Hridayapoorvam managed a moderate run, the others failed to leave a significant impact at the box office.If Drishyam 3 maintains its current momentum, the film is expected to comfortably cross the Rs 100 crore mark during its opening weekend.
