Swedish hearing protection manufacturer Sordin has launched the Supreme X2, the first product in its new X2 series of active hearing protectors built for hunters and shooters. The company, which has been producing hearing protection since 1976, describes the X2 as its new flagship platform targeting shooters and hunters who want "next-gen awareness" with all-day comfort.Sordin @ TFB: TFB Review: Sordin Supreme Basic Hearing Protection After NINE (9) Years Review: MSA Sordin Digital Supreme Pro X POTD: LWRCI REPR MkII w/ Pulsar Thermion XL60 LRF & A-Tech Suppressor The Supreme X2 is built around Sordin's proprietary HEAR2 audio system, which the company says delivers high-fidelity ambient sound with fast impulse recovery, restoring normal sound immediately after a shot. Sound level limitation is set at a maximum of 82 dB(A). The cups are slim enough to accommodate both left and right-handed shooters as well as glasses wearers, and the waterproof construction is rated for demanding field use. The unit runs on a single-battery configuration with a four-hour auto-shutdown. One of the headline features of the X2 platform is SordinFLEX, a modular mounting system that lets users swap between headband, neckband, and helmet configurations without tools, using a bayonet-style grip. Cushion upgrades are part of the same system, with GEL and memory foam options available. The headband version ships with a leather suspension featuring an optional detachable textile cover. This image displays the possibilities in a great way. The HEAR2 system includes four selectable audio profiles toggled via an ergonomic keypad: Hunter for general-use ambient sound, Focus for elevated gain in situations like hunting tower use, Shooter for a narrowed frequency spectrum at the range, and Ambient Off, which disables the microphones entirely and turns the unit into a passive protector while keeping communication active. A 3.5mm AUX input handles connection to phones or hunting radios."Sordin X2 sets a new benchmark for premium active hearing protection," said Tomas Chatzopoulos, CMO at Sordin. "We know that shooters and hunters expect more than just hearing safety, they need accurate awareness and true comfort in every condition. X2 is the first step in our completely new platform built to meet those demands."A Bluetooth-enabled variant, the X2BT, was previewed at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas but is still in development. "When we launch the X2BT, it will deliver a wireless experience worthy of the Sordin name," said CTO Oskar Brattberg. "That's why we're taking the extra time to refine and perfect every detail, reliability and comfort can't be rushed." The Supreme X2 is available now in black or green, with headband or neckband suspension and GEL or memory foam cushion options. It carries a two-year warranty.Specifications:Type: Electronic active hearing protectorSNR: 29 dB (headband GEL/foam); 28 dB (neckband GEL)Weight: 367g (headband GEL), 309g (headband memory foam), 333g (neckband GEL)Sound limiting: 82 dB(A) maximumAudio profiles: Hunter, Focus, Shooter, Ambient OffInput: 3.5mm AUXBattery: Single-battery with 4-hour auto shutdownColors: Black, GreenSuspension: Leather headband or neckband (SordinFLEX modular)Cushions: GEL or memory foamWaterproof: YesWarranty: 2 yearsPlatform: SordinFLEX compatibleFor more information, visit Sordin Supreme X2.Do you prefer GEL or foam cushions on your active earmuffs, and has cushion choice ever changed how long you're willing to wear a set in the field?
