Cam Ward has undergone a significant body transformation ahead of the 2026 NFL season. To say it was a difficult rookie season in the NFL for the young Tennessee Titans quarterback would be an understatement. Titans QB Cam Ward has dropped 10 pounds ahead of the 2026 NFL seasonGettyIn 17 games under center, the former No. 1 overall pick completed just 59.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,169 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also fired seven interceptions as the Titans won just three games, which saw them claim the No. 4 overall draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They used this pick to select Ohio State Buckeyes star wide receiver Carnell Tate. But with a new weapon in his receiving arsenal, Ward is now zeroed in on having a strong sophomore campaign. Last season, the 23-year-old entered the NFL listed as 6-foot-2 and 219 pounds, and this time around, he is entering training camp at a much leaner 209 pounds having dropped 10 pounds over the course of the off-season. “I think it’ll help me with durability,” Ward said at the team OTAs via ESPN‘s Turron Davenport. “Just being faster, getting up in the pocket, and trying to play my speed.“I watch my diet more, continue to have more cardio, just work on my body, just now here and when I’m away from the building.”Fans are not so convinced by this reasoning, with one taking to social media and writing, “Wouldn’t weighing more help take the hits easier?”“Not sure that I’ve heard anyone say they lost weight to be more durable before, but maybe in a roundabout way it should make him more mobile and thus take fewer hits which in turn leads to ‘more durability’?” a second user wrote.“Speed maybe. Durability not so much,” a third weighed in. Having dealt with a nagging shoulder injury throughout his rookie campaign, newly-appointed head coach Robert Saleh has been left impressed by what he’s seen from his star signal caller. “His arm is perfectly healthy,” Saleh said. “He’s slinging the ball and has got some good velocity on it.”Paying a particularly close eye on diet has also been a trend within the entire Titans organization, and started when Saleh came into the building. Reports also indicated that the Titans nutritional staff had removed all seed oils from the cafeteria, something Saleh identified as a priority.New Titans HC Saleh has made changes around the organizationGetty“One of the first things we did here was get rid of all the seed oils in the building, which I think the players appreciate,” Saleh said. There’s been a growing narrative throughout the United States that seed oils, those oils that are extracted from plants like canola oil and corn oil, can pose a detriment to one’s health, though some nutrition scientists disagree. Nonetheless, the removal of seed oils has gone down with the players within the Titans organization. “That’s a big thing,” veteran safety Amani Hooker said. “That stuff weighs on you and can make you not feel good when we’re playing.”The huge efforts made inside the building by Tennessee’s nutritional staff to prioritize their players’ health has also not gone unnoticed by Salah either. “I’ve been in six different buildings and I’d put this staff up there with the best of them,” Saleh added of his staff. “The product they put out in the cafeteria daily is outstanding.”Stay up to date with the NFL across all our talkSPORT platforms – subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest news, opinion, exclusive interviews and our daily unfiltered, unscripted show ‘The S* Word, from 8am ET.
