A report has revealed that around a dozen ineligible prison inmates reportedly voted during early voting after receiving voting documents by mistake.According to a report by Times of Malta , around 50 inmates at Corradino Correctional Facility were mistakenly issued voting documents due to an administrative error involving the courts and the Electoral Commission.Under Maltese law, inmates serving prison sentences longer than 12 months lose their right to vote, although those awaiting trial, serving shorter sentences or appealing their sentence can still cast ballots. The Electoral Commission later sent letters warning affected inmates not to vote and informing them they could face legal consequences if they did so anyway. However, a number of inmates reportedly still cast their votes during early voting. The report also states that the Electoral Commission, prison authorities and the Court Services Agency are now disputing who is responsible for the administrative error.Who should take responsibility for errors like this?•
