My gawd. I'm not surprised by any of this, as I am a case manager in social services and mental health. The absolute failure to change any aspect of their lives is just so boring to me. I always put in the effort to speak to their strengths and find community resources. However, some of my clients are always victims and my efforts fall on deaf ears an uninterested minds. I don't possess the ability to inspire and elevate my clients that have been just cluncking along for the past 10 years who bitch and moan that I'm not doing my job. When I get new clients with that glimmer in their eye, its like a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to tell them about all of their strengths and resources that can guide them to a better future. People have to want it. I'm completely over trying to persuade those that just don't care. Its generational too...oh great, just picked up Annie's kid on my caseload...sigh
